Walt and Bill Good: The Pioneers of Radio Control Aeromodeling
The first profitable radio-controlled airplane is extensively thought-about to be the Big Guff, constructed and flown by twin brothers Walter and Bill Good in 1938. It had a wingspan of eight toes, weighed eight and a half kilos, and was powered by a small gasoline engine. Lead-acid batteries offered the ability to the management floor actuators (pseudo servos) and the transmitter was so heavy that the electronics and batteries sat on the bottom whereas a cable related management field was held by the pilot. This historic RC airplane now completely resides within the Smithsonian.
