ROAR and Horizon Hobby have collectively agreed to take away the Trinity Slot Machine motors from ROAR’s checklist of authorised motors. This choice will take impact on November 10, 2023 and applies to all variations of the Slot Machine motors (i.e., 13.5T, 17.5T, 21.5T and 25.5T).
ROAR routinely purchases and re-inspects beforehand authorised motors to make sure that the ultimate manufacturing model doesn’t differ from people who have been initially submitted for certification. Following one such examine, ROAR lately found that important modifications had been made to the interior design of the Slot Machine motor after that they had already been inspected and authorised by ROAR’s technical workers.
Following this discovery, ROAR reached out to the producer to debate the problem. Technicians at Horizon Hobby, the brand new homeowners of the Trinity-branded merchandise, confirmed that the present manufacturing variations of the Slot Machine motors have been completely different from people who had been beforehand inspected and authorised by ROAR. It additionally seems that the design modifications occurred earlier than Horizon Hobby acquired the Trinity product line in July of 2023.
The change in motor design violates three of ROAR’s guidelines. First, in response to Rule #11.3.2.4, “modification of approved motors from their approved configuration and materials by manufacturers, importers or competitors is not permitted.” ROAR and Horizon Hobby independently confirmed that present manufacturing variations of the Slot Machine motors had been modified from their authorised configuration.
Second, in response to Rule #11.3.2.3, “changes, other than normal production variations, to any area of an approved motor require re-approval of the motor.” Neither Trinity nor Horizon Hobby submitted the modified motors for re-approval after the unique configuration had been altered.
Third, the design modifications made to the Slot Machine motors violates Rule #11.3.7.1 which governs and restricts the usage of chamfers and chamfering in Spec Wind Motors.
ROAR vastly regrets needing to take away the Slot Machine motors from the Approved checklist as it is going to undoubtedly inconvenience many racers. Nevertheless, we have now an obligation to scrupulously implement the ROAR guidelines to make sure honest competitors for all. ROAR sincerely appreciates the extremely cooperative method through which Horizon/Trinity has responded to our considerations. We have little question that they may be capable of treatment the issue in a short time. ROAR will proceed to maintain the R/C racing neighborhood knowledgeable as new developments come up on this challenge.
