Monster Truck Madness – Rotten Apple Street Truck
Greetings all and Happy Thursday!
Before we get going this week, an enormous “congrats” to fellow Squid Jeremy on opening his personal passion store, Juicebox Hobbies. Make certain to provide his web page a like/observe! I’m unhappy that I don’t stay nearer to partake in that candy oval monitor he’s constructing! Good luck with this endeavor bro!
In different information, I’ve lastly completed my Rotten Apple road truck!
I discover it hilarious that after I wound up going via the difficulty of masking and repainting the unique purple getup that the RC4WD Scottsdale got here with, the full body kit was finally released! Dems da breaks, although.
I painted the body in Tamiya Primer after which hit it with a number of coats of Tamiya TS-42 Light Gunmetal. My wheels, that are Injora 1.55 steel bead locks, had been painted TS-52 Candy Lime. FYI, the tires are RC4WD Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac 1.55″ 4.19″ Scale Tires, they usually match simply OK on the Injora’s. I’d suggest you persist with RC4WD wheels for RC4WD tires.
The graphics on the facet had been made by buddy Michael Arndt and printed by JB Scale Graphics. These had been initially accomplished for my monster truck fleet, however I’m going to start out adapting all of my new automobiles with this type of look!
I’m fairly proud of how the truck has turned out to this point, however there shall be modifications!
First off, whereas I’m joyful I attempted the 1.55 look, I plan to return to the unique 1.9 inventory wheel and tires. I just like the footprint greater than the smaller setup. I do plan to color the wheels inexperienced, although!
Outside of that, the one main factor I plan to do within the fast future is add the RC4WD Roll Bar. I ordered mine again in September however it’s nonetheless on backorder. I believe getting that put in would be the last piece I must nail the ’80s vibe that I would like!
These pics had been shot on a quick path run I took the truck on, and let me say that I forgot how a lot totally different you need to drive a leafer. And sure, I did cringe at my first massive scratch. I suppose it’s greatest I get it out of the best way.
So that’s one mission completed, no less than in the intervening time. On to the Konghead!
Until subsequent time, hold it on all 4’s!
