Monster Truck Madness – Building one thing like a Juggernaut?
Hey all, Happy Thursday!
I obtained a great e-mail from a reader the opposite day in reference to my 2024 prediction column. I figured it might be a great foundation for dialogue this week.
Hi Doug.
Big fan of your articles. Reading the newest prediction one, I seen one thing concerning the lack of a revival of the Juggernaut occurring being the one prediction that didn’t come true.
It kinda bought me considering. If a big firm isn’t keen to present us what we wish, what would it not take for the neighborhood to do it? We have tons of artistic people who make a lot through 3d printing or cnc machining.
If you may choose a available “base” r/c, what components would you suppose may very well be used (to mate components that may not be made for each other) or created (the half doesn’t exist in any respect) to create your individual model of the Juggernaut truck?
Just a thought from a fan would would like to see it occur as nicely.

Hey Matt, thanks to your e-mail. Appreciate you studying and writing in.
Well, so right here’s the factor. There are completely different of us/firms on the market constructing and promoting chassis and components that match the invoice for a “true” scale model retro monster truck that incorporates a driveline and suspension just like what the true vehicles had. The concern is that lots of them are very small batch and due to this fact it’s robust for the typical hobbyist to get data on them. And then, usually it’s essential be a considerably seasoned hobbyist to truly construct one.
That’s to not say there may be something flawed with that, it’s simply that it stays a hyper area of interest factor.
I exploit the Juggernaut II for an instance of one thing I’d like to see re-released as a result of whereas it’s not an ideal illustration of an old-fashioned monster, it’s fairly darn shut or at the least shut sufficient.
I do consider all the large R/C firms on the market that RC4WD would in all probability be the most effective for it, simply on account of all of the chassis they have already got that may very well be tailored for monster truck use with seemingly relative ease.
Another bonus for a mainstream firm doing it’s that for these of us that wish to race them, it simplifies what sort of rule bundle to make use of however that’s entire different can of worms!
To be very particular in order to truly reply your question- the lengthy wheel base RC4WD Trail Finder 2 platform is the one I’d like to see some type of monster truck conversion achieved on. I feel it might be the idea for a really cool retro!
Thanks for the e-mail, I hope that helps clarify my ideas!
