Report by Zak Finlay
Team XRAY were in attendance this past weekend at round 2 of the MICC Series in Telford, UK, check out the results here.
The track layout presented the usual challenge of being very fast, but also with a few hairpins. The team were confident after having a strong performance at round 1 and wanted to repeat the same results.
In qualifying, Zak Finlay took the TQ spot in the very popular 17.5 stock class. Zak was able to take his XRAY X4’23 to top the time sheets in every round of qualifying. Team mate Ricky Copsey showed excellent pace and was able to line up 2nd on the grid for the A-Main.
In the final, Zak was able to make a small gap in the opening laps and take a comfortable lead after the 5 minute final. Ricky would have a race long battle for 2nd place, but eventually had to settle for 3rd overall.
Overall, there were 5 XRAY cars in the A-Main for stock, making it the most popular car in the top 10.
17.5 stock results:
- Zak Finlay – XRAY X4’23
- Ben Moorey
- Ricky Copsey – XRAY X4’23
In modified, a day long battle between XRAY team mates Harley Eldridge and Kyle Branson was able to showcase the performance of the new XRAY X4’23. The pair would top every round of racing between them, but it was Harley Eldridge who was able to take the TQ position after four rounds. Kyle would line up 2nd on the grid for the single leg final.
In the final, the XRAY pair quickly pulled a gap to the rest of the field and battled for the lead. A slight clip of a corner for Harley around the halfway mark, allowed Kyle to capitalise and jump into the lead, where Harley would sit close to his bumper for the remaining time of the race. Kyle was able to take the win, with Harley in 2nd – a great showing for the new car!
